On January 28, 2026, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that a massive drone attack in Odesa, Ukraine, killed and injured several civilians and damaged residential buildings and energy infrastructure, leaving more than 60,000 families without electricity. A preschool and school were also damaged, the UN said. In the Kharkiv region, a drone strike hit a passenger train near Barvinkivska, killing at least four civilians and injuring others. Humanitarian partners reported widespread damage to housing and essential services as conflict continues, and thousands of children and families are being evacuated from frontline areas.
