Authorities in Buffalo reported the death of Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a 42-year-old blind refugee originally from Bangladesh. He was found deceased in his residence in the Elmwood Village neighborhood on the morning of February 26, 2026. Local police confirmed that the death is currently under investigation.
Shah Alam had been residing in Buffalo for approximately three years under a refugee resettlement program. Neighbors reported last seeing him alive two days prior.
