U.S. and Israeli Military Operations in Iran Report Deaths on All Sides

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations against targets in Iran. The strikes focused on Iranian missile sites, military facilities, and leadership compounds following Iranian attacks on U.S., Israeli, and allied forces in the region. Iranian state media reported that several strikes also hit civilian areas, including a girls’ elementary school in Minab, Hormozgan province.

Iranian authorities reported that 201 civilians were killed and 747 were injured across multiple provinces during the initial phase of the strikes and immediate aftermath. Among the casualties were dozens of schoolchildren in Minab. These figures are based on official reports and remain subject to verification by independent observers.

The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed that 3 U.S. service members were killed and 5 were seriously wounded in connection with the operations. Israeli authorities reported that 9 civilians were killed and more than 100 were injured from Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory. The situation continues to evolve as retaliatory strikes and regional tensions remain high.
