Israel expands strikes, deploys troops on Lebanon border.

On March 2, 2026, Lebanese health authorities reported that at least 31 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in Israeli airstrikes conducted in multiple areas of southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The Israeli military stated that the strikes targeted infrastructure and positions associated with Hezbollah following rocket and drone launches from Lebanese territory into northern Israel.

Hezbollah announced that its cross-border attacks were carried out in response to military actions involving Israel and Iran in the region.

Following the escalation, Israel deployed additional military forces to the northern border with Lebanon. Israeli defense officials stated that tens of thousands of troops were positioned along the frontier to reinforce defensive and operational readiness.

Military exchanges continued along the Israel–Lebanon border, with reports of further rocket launches and aerial operations as hostilities intensified across multiple locations.
