Start of Red Eyebrows Rebellion

The Red Eyebrows rebellion began as a peasant uprising against the ruling Wang Mang regime. Originating in the Henan region, discontent over heavy taxation and natural disasters fueled the rebellion. The rebels earned their name due to their distinctive practice of painting their eyebrows red.

This uprising marked a significant challenge to the Xin dynasty's stability. Over time, the rebellion gathered momentum, contributing to the eventual demise of Wang Mang's government and the restoration of the Han dynasty.
