Eric Gurvis, a former rabbi who previously served at Temple Shalom in Newton, Massachusetts, was arrested in December 2025 in Framingham, Massachusetts, as part of a law enforcement sting operation targeting alleged child sexual exploitation offenses. Authorities stated that the operation involved undercover investigators posing as minors in online communications.
According to reporting from local and national news outlets, Gurvis was one of three individuals arrested in connection with the investigation. He was accused of engaging in explicit online conversations with undercover officers whom he believed to be minors and arranging a meeting for the purpose of committing sexual offenses. Law enforcement agencies involved included Massachusetts State Police and local prosecutors’ offices.
Officials reported that the arrests were the result of a coordinated investigation involving undercover messaging operations designed to identify individuals seeking to engage in illegal sexual conduct with minors. Gurvis and the other defendants were charged with offenses including enticement of a child under the age of 16 and attempted sexual conduct-related crimes.
Following arrest, Gurvis was released on bail pending further court proceedings. The case remained pending in district court at the time of reporting, with additional hearings scheduled.
