On January 20, 2026, a man previously pardoned by President Donald Trump for his role in the January 6, 2021 United States Capitol attack was re-arrested on a federal weapons charge in Florida. According to court filings, Daniel Charles Ball, 39, was taken into custody for alleged possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The arrest stemmed from an outstanding federal warrant filed in August of the previous year.
Ball had initially been charged with conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and other offenses related to his actions at the Capitol. After his pardon was issued alongside thousands of other January 6 defendants at the beginning of Trump’s second term, the weapons charge remained active, leading to his re-arrest. He was denied bail and held pending trial on the weapons allegation.
