Rights Group Says Fate of Palestinian Children Removed from Gaza Remains Unknown

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported that Israeli forces have removed Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip during ongoing military operations, with the whereabouts of some of the children remaining unknown. The organisation stated that the children were transferred out of Gaza without their parents or legal guardians.

According to the Geneva-based rights group, the cases include infants and young children who were separated from their families during ground operations and evacuations. Euro-Med said it has documented instances in which families lost contact with their children after Israeli forces took custody of them.

The organisation described the transfers as forced removals and said it has been unable to obtain official information regarding the children’s locations or conditions. It called on Israeli authorities to disclose the whereabouts of the children and facilitate their immediate return to their parents.

Israeli authorities have not publicly released detailed information addressing the specific allegations raised by Euro-Med regarding the children’s removal from Gaza. The Israeli military has previously stated that its operations are conducted in accordance with security requirements and international law.

Human rights organisations have continued to raise concerns over the impact of military operations on civilians in Gaza, particularly children, amid ongoing hostilities that began on October 7. Calls for independent investigations and humanitarian access have intensified as the conflict continues.
