🔎 Investigate this event

Germanicus led several military campaigns into Germania to avenge the Roman defeat in the Teutoburg Forest. His forces engaged in battles against various Germanic tribes in the region west of the Weser River.

One of the most significant battles occurred at Idistaviso where Roman legions defeated the Germanic coalition led by Arminius. This victory restored Roman honor but failed to secure permanent control over Germania.

These campaigns were critical for Rome's efforts to reassert dominance east of the Rhine, though ultimately the Romans withdrew to the Rhine frontier.
