Following the death of Emperor Claudius, Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was declared Roman Emperor. His rise to power was orchestrated largely by his mother, Agrippina the Younger, who secured his adoption by Claudius prior to the emperor's death.

Nero's accession marked the beginning of a new imperial dynasty and significant political shifts within Rome. His youth and ambitious reign led to both support and controversy among the Senate and Roman citizens.
