Clodius Albinus, a Roman usurper and rival claimant to the imperial throne, was defeated at the Battle of Lugdunum. The conflict ended his rebellion during a time of civil war within the Roman Empire.
The battle took place near Lugdunum, a major city in Gaul, where forces loyal to Emperor Septimius Severus confronted Albinus' army. The defeat effectively ended the challenge to Severus' rule posed by Albinus.
This event solidified Severus' position as sole emperor and marked a turning point in the Roman civil wars of the late 2nd century.
