A newly disclosed 2009 email from Donald Trump’s attorney contradicts Trump’s repeated claim that Jeffrey Epstein was banned from Mar-a-Lago, according to statements from Rep. Dan Goldman on March 21, 2026.
The unredacted document, revealed as part of ongoing investigations into Epstein-related matters, indicates that Epstein was never asked to leave the club and was considered a guest rather than a member. The disclosure has prompted renewed scrutiny of Trump’s past statements regarding Epstein.
The email exchange occurred in October 2009 between Epstein’s attorney, Jack Goldberger, and Trump’s attorney, Alan Garten. Garten wrote, “No he was not a member. May have been his guest. Never asked to leave,” directly contradicting Trump’s claims that Epstein had been banned in 2004 or 2007.
Prior reports had speculated about a falling-out between Trump and Epstein stemming from incidents in 2003 and 2004. However, the email confirms that Epstein retained access to Mar-a-Lago even after his 2008 conviction, raising fresh questions in the ongoing investigation into Epstein-related activities.
