Leon Mund is a former rabbi and teacher who worked within Montreal’s Orthodox Jewish community in Canada. He is reported to have served in roles involving religious instruction and counselling during the period several decades prior to the legal proceedings.
On April 13, 2022, Mund was arrested in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on an outstanding warrant issued in Montreal, Quebec. The arrest occurred while he was visiting Canada from Israel, where he had been living since 2002.
Authorities in Quebec charged Mund with sexual assault, sexual interference involving a minor, and incest. The allegations were linked to incidents reported to have occurred approximately 25 years prior to the charges being filed. Following investigation by Montreal police, a warrant was issued in February 2022 before his arrest in April.
