Murder of Shireen Abu Akleh, Al Jazeera Journalist

On May 11, 2022, Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian-American journalist for Al Jazeera, was fatally shot while covering an Israeli raid in Jenin, West Bank. She was wearing a clearly marked press vest and helmet. Witnesses, colleagues, and video evidence indicate that she was struck in the head by gunfire from Israeli forces.

Multiple independent investigations, including by the United Nations, the European Union, and human rights organizations, concluded that she was killed by Israeli fire.
