Aemilian, a Roman soldier and governor, seized power through a swift military revolt against Emperor Trebonianus Gallus. His accession marked a brief interruption in the Crisis of the Third Century, a period of political instability for Rome.
After defeating the existing emperor's forces, Aemilian was declared emperor by his troops and proceeded to take control of Rome. His reign lasted only a few months due to rival factions and internal strife within the Empire.
