After the death of Emperor Carus during a campaign in Persia, his son Numerian became the new Roman Emperor. The accession was initially peaceful, with Numerian holding power alongside his brother Carinus in the West.
Numerian led the army back from the Persian campaign but died under mysterious circumstances during the return journey. His death led to the rise of Diocletian, who ultimately ended the crisis of the Third Century.
