Death of Roman Emperor Severus

Septimius Severus, Roman Emperor, died on February 4th while in the city of Lugdunum, in the Roman province of Gallia Lugdunensis. His death marked the end of his two-decade reign, during which he expanded and consolidated the empire's territories.

Severus fell ill during military campaigns and sought refuge in Lugdunum, where he eventually passed away. Following his death, power was transferred to his sons Caracalla and Geta, leading to a turbulent succession period.
