Mike huckabee meets with Jonathan pollard
On January 20, 2017, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee met with Jonathan Pollard in New York following Pollard’s release from federal prison in November 2015. Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst, had been convicted in 1987 of passing classified information to Israel and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released on parole after serving 30 years.
Huckabee had previously advocated for Pollard’s release and publicly supported clemency efforts during multiple administrations. The meeting was documented through public statements and photographs shared by Huckabee. Pollard remained under parole restrictions at the time, including limitations on travel and monitoring of communications.
Pollard’s parole conditions were lifted in November 2020. In December 2020, he relocated to Israel after receiving permission to travel. The meeting between Huckabee and Pollard occurred during a period of continued public discussion regarding Pollard’s case and U.S.-Israel relations.
